What is the French Open?

Our mission:

to invite you all to some

fun days with good friends,

great dogs
and challenging work!

We are honoured to have some fantastic judges who are also amazing handlers, eager to challenge us and each other with tricky and personal courses.

We are bringing in several types of sheep that put the complicity between dog and handler to the test.

And for our friends coming from far, we have located this trial around a truly charming and genuinely French town with plenty to do and see also for weary family members who may not fully share our enthusiasm for sheep related activities.

Please come, whether as participant, volonteer or spectator, and help us make this a wonderful and fun event that gives us memories and inspiration enough to boost us through the next winter!

Warm regards, Sabine

We have moved this site to a new platform; if you find links that don't work or something else that doesn't seem right, don't hesitate to let us know!

We have added info about the judges and the sheep here

We are still receiving registrations so we are waiting a bit to assign runs. But as we start being fully booked we will prepare the starting lists for each day, and ask you to check if you are okey with how you run, and if so to please pay your participation fee. How much you owe and how to pay will be posted here.
We still have a few places left, especially on Friday, so don't hesitate to register if you haven't already done so!

We have posted the list of participants currently registered here.

We will post info about the days you are running and how to pay your fee shortly.

We are very proud to announce our judges for 2012:

·  Ron Beecham, England

·  Pascal Bourdon, France

·  Erik Holmgaard, Denmark

·  Iolo Jones, Wales

Like last year, the judges are coming with their dogs to enjoy three days of interesting and challenging trialing with the rest of us!

We have some news that we hope will make your stay here even better and make teh trial more interesting:

·  We are proposing a Young Handler trial with two categories: up to 14 and up to 20.

·Since last year's challenging sheep were very heavy, this year's tough sheep are very, very fast.

·  The guided tourswere so popular that we have also added the charming medieval city Chartres to the itinerary!

·  We are arranging so that the French Open will have our own section at the camping, so that all the people staying there can be together.

·  We will only have 2 fieldsthis year, to be able to better concentrate our resources and services, and to be able to use very fast sheep (=> we need closed fields).

·  More as we approach! J
